Hi I'm Kathryn! (You can call me Kat.)

Remember when were young and it felt like anything was possible? Me too! You were so badass.
You couldn't wait to be an adult and change all the rules (or just get drunk and watch the world burn). Good times. Magic, actually; if I could bottle that shit I would be a billionaire. It's sex, drugs, and miracles. It writes the songs that make you cry, overthrows the unjust, and paints your soul.
Well, you know what? We made it. We're the grown-ups now. Holy shit!
And all the things that mattered then -- they still matter. Adulthood is like a tempering process: into the fire, out of the fire, strong and shining. Or if you prefer, a refining through with bullshit is filtered out, your essence distilled. It's not for beginners, part-timers, or dabblers of any kind. Tom Waits was not built in a day.
I feel more powerful than ever, like I have enough love and rage to big bang another solar system into existence. How about you?
I invite you to join me on this leg of my creative journey.
I'd love to know where the road finds you, too. Let me know what's on your mind. xo K

Vintage Button Earrings

So, I thought it would be cool to make some of my button stash into earrings, since I have so many and they're so beautiful.  (Like, thousands of them.  Mason jars full, plus several small Rubbermaid bins).
The antique white buttons are carved from real sea shell, most likely abalone.  They're the kind of buttons those white opalescent are meant to imitate -- you can tell the real ones apart by their weight and irregularities.  If you examine the backs of them you often see flecks of pink or black.
The colourful plastic ones are vintage, mostly from the 60s and 70s, salvaged from second hand clothes of the era.
This is the first batch; they've been really popular so I'm pretty stoked.  Pardon the rough photo quality, this picture was taken late at night after carding these up.
